Lord Swaminarayan.....



Jay Swaminarayan also known as Sahajanand Swami, is the central figure of modern Hindu sect known as the Swaminarayan faith, a form of Vaishnavism. Within the faith, Swaminarayan is identified with the Supreme Being, or that is worshiped Purusottama as an incarnation of Nara-Narayana Narayana deity partner

Swaminarayan Ghanshyam Pande was born in Chhapaiya, Uttar Pradesh, India in 1781. In 1792, he began a pilgrimage in India seven years, adopting the name Nilkanth Varni. He settled in the state of Gujarat, around 1799. In 1800, was initiated in the Sampradaya Uddhava by his guru, Swami Ramanand, and given the name Sahajanand Swami. In 1802 his guru gave him the leadership of the Sampradaya Uddhava with him before his death. Sahajanand Swami held a meeting and taught the Swaminarayan mantra. Since that time, was known as Swaminarayan and regarded as an incarnation of God by his followers. The Sampradaya Uddhava known as the Swaminarayan Sampradaya.


Swaminarayan developed a good relationship with the British imperial government. He had fans not only Hindu denominations, but also Islam and Zoroastrianism. He built six temples in his life and named 500 Paramhans to spread his philosophy. In 1826, the Swaminarayan Shikshapatri wrote a book of social principles. He died on June 1, 1830 and was cremated according to Hindu rites in Gadhada, Gujarat. Before his death, Swaminarayan nephews named as acharyas at the head of the two dioceses of Swaminarayan Sampradaya.

Swaminarayan is also remembered in the faith to carry out reforms for women and the poor yagna, or fire sacrifices make large-scale as well as performing miracles. He, however, was criticized by religious leaders such as Swami Dayananda who questioned the acceptance of Swaminarayan as God. Swaminarayan had about 1.8 million followers when he died. Currently, the following is estimated at between 5 and 20 million.
